So what do we think? I haven't seen this model of Vistalite. Are they still perspex? What's the value of them?

Yeah, I saw those too – i'm not big on the sizes and apparently the colour is not the most
sought after vista colour but it's a pretty good price. My only reservation with vistas is what
shape they are in – they are the kind of drums you need to pull all the hardware off and check
for cracks on every lug hole. If they were 22" kicks I'd be tempted to buy...

hi mate - yeh i wondered about that - the colour i haven't seen at all. I think it's a good buy but i don't need another double 24" bass drum kit as this one one is almost exactly like my 80's Premier reso kit in configuration! However it is a good price and a lot of drum for the $$ - yeh that anniversary badge is odd aye?! What sort of snare would have accompanied it?

Most likely the much coveted 14x6.5" supraphonic LM402 chrome drum made famous
by Bonham which would explain it's absence. It may have came with a smoke vista
14x6.5" matching drum...

I asked the question re cracks on the TM page, apparently none. Kit looks to me as a good buy.

Here is a clip from Joedrums who plays on a Vistalite kit and it always sounds great. He also plays a DW kit equally as nice.

His You Tube's are worth looking at, a nice player, great presenter of his skills at nailing covers, and nice guy ... as all drummers are.

The Jeff Ochletree DVD he mentions is good and features Mark Romans from band 12 Hour Mary. Worth checking out if you are into Bonham sounding kits. Cool

Joe does a solo...

yep, I want to know more about the anniversary badges – apparently the 75th anniversary was in 83 but those drums have 70's blue/olive badges and small arc spurs which indicate earlier 70's.. a mystery i'd rather talk to the guy than fire a thousand TM questions. I won't be buying though – I have no money!

well do post your findings bro - we're most interested.I noticed the badges too but the colour confused me. I'd be really tempted too but i'd have to ship them which is a hassle and cost and i'd have to sell another kit cos i have too many already! But that would be a serious rock kit!

Any chance your'e a muso? Laughing

Iv'e heard a see through kit many years ago, i think they were Fibes clear, and likely rare nowadays, they (acrylic shells)would be great for rock as very loud, but my guess is they would need some taming with heads and tuning depending on the room (listen to Joedrums kit unprocessed ... big sound). Then perhaps may not be versatile for other gigs if that was your only kit.
Anyone else own one of these or experienced one that can reveal?

i have a tama fibrestar to the shells are fibreglass and they are very loud indeed - not as much in the tone department but heads make a big difference - i have coated ambassadors on them at the moment and the make them very big and boomy

ok, spoke to the seller – 24,18,16,14,13 are native to kit extra 24" was added later also no double tom mount for the extra bass drum.
I'd like to see a close up of the badge, I see someone else asked the same thing...

yeah, I agree man. The most popular colours are amber, blue and clear and the most sought after and rare – red, green and patterns.

these are 1986 reissue vistalites in the colour called Smoke . badge is not uncommon but only went on that year,(you can get oyster Ringo's the same) great for live work but you 'cannot ' use them for recording (ask Eddie Kramer) .they are made of acrylic that shrinks and cracks with time and they cant be repaired (big risk in my opinion) also you should never have them in direct sunlight !!! see trade me photo oh dear.
