To cover all bases, is your stand good, no metal contact?

Crack can be hard to detect if along a lathe line.
Hope it is o.k, i have a 21" sweet ride and it's the bees knees.

ive got gibralter 6601 stands basically dws they have the plastic cymbal holder and eveything so i wouldnt think the stand would have anything to do with it and dont get me wrong i love the sound of my sweet ride but new sound it has developed is driving me mental! i got my parents to also listen to it but they couldn't hear any thing so i hope it isnt just me.

any other tips would be much apperciated

Sounds odd. I,ve had cymbals with crack in them before that had no noises. A loose leg adjuster was once the culprit of an annoying extranious sound.

yes it is very odd it has nothing to do with the stand because when i hold it with my hand it still does it

finding cracks in cymbals

Post  peterbrittenden on Thu Nov 12, 2009 8:45 am

it's possible (but unlikely) the cymbal has a hairline crack in it. check it over with a powerful magnifying glass or pour something like ink or food colouring on one side and see if anything seeps through to the other side. cheers

It does sound like a crack... i hope not I hate it when I crack a cymbal (very rarely)
but I get so pissed of at myself I want to race out and buy the same model straight away.

Watched Foo's Live in Hyde park last night on telle, excellent footage.
Taylor Hawkins is using K vintage ride, and K Custom dark ride for crashes.
As an actual ride he' uses a 21 Sweet ride, thought it sounded familiar

cover the whole thing in soapy water, get an air crompessor and jet some air from the other side, if it bubbles you got crackage.

Edit: maybe you thrashed your hearing from hitting it too much? Razz

haha no i dont think ive trashed my hearing always wear earplugs
but i took it into the rockshop in the city last weekend and they looked it over again and again with a very puzzled faces told me there were no cracks and if there was a crack it would lose alot of volume witch it had not infact it was louder than the other sweeet ride that was there so am I luckey or what?
