Imperialstar drums

Post  ShamRock on Thu Dec 17, 2009 12:32 am

Picked up a Tama Imperialstar kit off TM
From what I can make out they are seventies ones ,they have the white coated interiors with re rings, silver/grey wrap
Big ass sizes 24 kick 18 floor and 13+14 concert toms for the racks, heads look about 30 years old but still sound pretty decent , the kick sounds massive.
I might go with clear single ply heads on all the toms to open the sound up
Anybody owned a set of these? I heard Stewart Copeland played imperialstars back in the day.. I'll put up some pics later today

The floor and the kick sound great , I dont know if I'm sold on the concert toms yet but they should all sound better with new heads
The snare looks cheap , although it is heavy as
I still have to detail the kit but it should come up pretty mint

Yeah Mate, had a monster set of those:
2 x 24, 13, 14, 15, 16 rack mount toms!
16 & 18 floor toms, absolute monster of a kit. Lars Urlrich of Metallica started out with them also & many others. The coating is called Zola Coat now called Zola Tone, new heads on will suprise you the concert toms are nice & loud...go hard, cheers.
