things that I like about them is their ease to tune them, they have a solid fundamental tone, and mean projection.
the kick in this kit (20x16) punches like a smaller kick, but has a solid low end, not muddy like a 22 and definitely more present than other 20's i've either owned or just played.

I used to have a late 80's premier projector powerhouse outfit,
the bass was classic 3ply birch with beech re-rings and 20x18"
half the kit was stolen at the powerstation in auckland after
a gig so I was left with the bass and a 13" rack tom. Still one
of the best bass drums i've ever had...

mate,
if you'd managed to find and add a 16" floor that would be a mean rock/blues kit!!!
