1972 Premier 202

Post  Andrew G on Sun Jan 20, 2013 11:53 pm

So nobody has posted in this section for a while so I'll throw up my latest resto. This is a 1972 Premier 202 (20,13,16,14snare). It's been a challenging resto due to some small but unique missing parts. All done now. The original 2000 snare has pretty flakey chrome but that seems to be a very common problem with these. Nice sounding kit and quite different from everything else I have. Toms seem to be happier tuned higher than my other kits. Apparently this was once owned by Peter (Rooda) Warren of DD Smash. 1st pic as purchased:

Very nice. Do you have a cymbal arm for the bass drum? I image it would be expensive to bring in from the UK. Is the snare brass or another alloy? Peter recorded vocals for a track my son recorded for a SAE project last year, his voice was great for song they did. Cheeers,,,,,,

thanks. No cymbal arm and I won't be getting one anytime soon. I had to get 2 DC hoops for it from England and that was expensive enough. The snare is Aluminium hence the chrome falling off. I don't think they did a brass 2000 but there are some steel ones out there.
Good to hear Peter is still active.

Peter played on the attached recording. It was the top SAE recording for last year. Considering what he can play, it is a controlled performance of playing for the song.

Sweet job! I'm not sure mine will turn out quite as nice as that.
