No way, I like old stuff. I like stuff that already has battle-scars, and I especially like paying second-hand prices. I work in retail and I know how much margin is added just to cover rent, wages etc, why bother paying all that, I just want a floor tom

Unfortunately without that margin there would be no drumshops for you to visit when you break your sticks or urgently need a drumhead.

Hey I'm just looking for a 2nd hand floor tom. If you want to push your own agenda then do it somewhere else

No sigh ... just trying to offer you some (what I thought was) helpful advice. I really don't care where you get your drums from - it was JUST a suggestion. If I had a hidden agenda it would be to get more people to listen to my band - honestly.

Good luck in your hunt for your drum

Moderator!!! Come on guys, no need for name calling. Nate is a really nice guy and a bit of a rarity these days as someone who will hang and talk drums in his shop. I understand your point greenoyster as I also like my gear to look like I called in at the pawn shop on the way to the gig ha ha. Are you the same greenoyster that bid on my sunburst supers?

I do agree with greenoyster in some respects though. I do think stuff is quite overpriced in some areas (that's coming from me!). Maybe a topic for discussion in another thread :-)

Yes that was me bidding on the Superstars, half bidding really & half trying to find out what the reserve was. Tempted to go higher, the tom hoops would be cheap enough to replace and I figure the stickers are removable, but the front bass hoop would be a pain to replace. What condition are the bottom bearing edges in, having been without hoops? I remember seeing a kit like that for sale at Big City Music in Fort St in the early eighties and wondered if it might be the same kit?

yeah, I remember big city music - tama and paiste specialists. I just snagged matching tama bottom hoops for all the toms and 6 t's and claws for the front of the kick. Still need 4 t's/claws and a superstar hoop which I will color match to the original. The bearing edges are pretty good on the toms, bass front edge has a rough spot about 4" in length which I will clean up. Sound wise, they are the tits.
